Since the first time Paula and Thomas visited Orvieto, they fell in love with the small city and La Domus Orvieto breathtaking wedding venue. Located in the historic city center, the venue is easily within walking distance to the accommodation, the church, and the reception venue; eliminating the need to organize transportation for guests.

Paula was as radiant as Thomas was cheerful for the day of their wedding, which began in a cathedral rich with history and ancient beauty. The bride’s dress was modern and simply elegant as it was complemented by white and blush pink roses and bridesmaids dressed in lavender.

La Domus Orvieto wedding venue was majestic with its arched stonewalls towering over the elegant loft for dinner. The tables for the seated portion were arranged with candles set in bouquets of baby’s breath and hints of gold for the table settings and menus. The food was divine and the cake was decorated to perfection surrounded by roses and topped with a cute little couple.

The night continued into the nearby courtyard where the guests took advantage of the cliff’s edge views of the countryside. The newlyweds shared their first dance with their loved ones surrounding them. As the sun set behind the green hills, the white orbs floating above the dance floor glowed as everyone joined in dancing and enjoying the live jazz band.

It was an experience enjoyed by everyone in attendance and will remain a magical and unforgettable little city. The newlyweds and guests alike are not soon to forget this marvelous wedding in Orvieto, Italy!

Below is a short interview with the bride.

1) How did you and your partner meet?

We met through friends in University in Ireland, little did we know ten years later we would be married!

2) How did he propose?

Thomas proposed on the last night of a weekend trip to Amsterdam in June 2014. The next morning we visited one of the diamond factories in the city and picked our engagement ring before we flew home.

3) Why did you choose Italy as your wedding Location?

There were many reasons for choosing Italy! We spent two weeks traveling by train through Italy in 2007 after University and had great memories of the country with wonderful food, wine and people. We decided to have a destination wedding and thought Italy would be a good choice as it was convenient for our family and friends to travel, the weather would be good and it was also a country in which we could have the church wedding we wanted.

4) Why did you choose La Domus Orvieto as a wedding venue?

We loved the character of La Domus Orvieto wedding venue, with its striking interior and private terrace with wonderful views. It was also a short walk for our guests from the church we married in. It was also great that it was privately hired and we had freedom to use the venue how we wished to.

5) In what ways has Orvieto impressed you?

We loved the first view of the town sitting on top of the high volcanic rock and the striking views from the town to the surrounding countryside. Orvieto is a lovely town to stroll around as it is not too large and it had many accommodation options, shops and restaurants for our guests. It was also easy to travel to from Rome or Florence. We visited the town for our first wedding anniversary and it now feels so familiar and welcoming for us that we will no doubt make many more trips in the future.

6) Did you use a wedding planner company?

Yes, we used Prestige Weddings Italy after reading a recommendation from a couple on a wedding forum. We got in touch with Fabrizio and he was great to deal with from the beginning of our wedding planning. He had many contacts in Orvieto and was excellent in organising all the details for the wedding. He was a fantastic wedding planner for us before, during and after our wedding.

7) What part of the wedding do you remember most?

Meeting each other at the altar.

8) Describe your wedding in one word.

Perfect.

9) What advice do you have for future brides?

If choosing to marry away from home, really consider having a wedding planner- we couldn’t have done it without one. Be organised as early as possible so that you can enjoy the lead up to the wedding day and be able to relax and enjoy every moment.
